hiccups & coos

A quick video of Cedar during an episode of hiccups. :) He seemed happy enough though. He makes some pretty cute coos & squeals. It's not the best camera work, but you get the idea. :) So fun!

6 weeks

Cedar is 6 weeks old!
Look at that double chin...he's getting bigger. :)

He is becoming more interactive all the time, cooing & even smiling! He looks a little unsure in this photo.

He seems to like the changing table on our pack-n-play. It has a little light & plays music. He watches the sheep & has even smiled a tiny smile at them. :)

Little smiles.

Happy guy.

Open mouth smile at Dad!

He's getting better at those smiles. I'll try to capture some more as he figures it out. :)

more visiting

Cedar, Finn & I got to spend some time playing with the cousins. Griffin loves to hold Cedar. :)

Sadie also loves her littlest cousin. She likes to give me updates on the little noises & faces Cedar makes. :)

Open eyes for Aunt Becca.

On a different day - all ready to go outside. The hat was a little big, but it kept the sun out of his eyes. You can start to see how much Cedar has filled out already. His arms & legs have little rolls! :P

family in town

Here are a few photos from our time with out-of-town Henrys

Cedar with his Great-Aunt Lindy

Finn really attached himself to Isaac (on the left, sitting on the ball) & was happy to follow him around, everywhere. Isaac was a great sport & played along. Now, Finn tells us "Isaac is my friend" & asks to go & see him. It's really easy to get Finn out the door when he knows that Isaac is going to be wherever we're going. :)

Great-Uncle Nathan, Isaac, Finn & Great-Aunt Jennifer. Finn is using an application on Mummi's iPhone that makes lightsaber sounds when he moves it. Nathan is defending himself with a fly swatter, which Finn has declared to be a white lightsaber. :)

Amazingly enough, Cedar still manages to get some attention, despite having a busy brother who tends to run the show. :) Here's one of those happy accidents with photography - I took this photo without a flash at the same time as someone taking a photo with a flash. He looks a little stunned. :P

tie-dye greeting

On Saturday, June 6th, Kenton's Aunt Lindy & cousins Isaac & Genevieve flew into the Eugene airport for a visit. Kenton's mom had the idea of everyone wearing tie-dyed t-shirts when we greeted them at the airport...however, nobody in the Henry family actually owns any tie-dye (except for me, but I wasn't sure where mine was), so new shirts were in order for everyone! :P

Cedar's shirt was made especially for him by my mom. :)

We had a huge group gathered to welcome Lindy & the kids. Since Kenton's parents & grandparents live in town & everyone else is spread around, several of Kevin's siblings planned to visit at the same time so that they could see each other too. So our group included Kevin, Outi, Brian, Kenton, me, Finn, Cedar, Marylee, Lew, Jennifer & Bill (Kevin's sister, from Nevada), Sharon (Kevin's sister, from Utah), & Nathan (Kevin's brother/Lindy's husband, from Fairbanks). We only made a little bit of a scene. :) I'll have to get the group photo from Outi & post it later.

Later that day...

Kenton found a garter snake while mowing the lawn. He was brave enough to pick it up & put it in a jar for Finn to see once he woke up from his nap.

We were both very surprised at Finn's willingness to hold the snake. Kenton didn't let go of the snake because we didn't want Finn to accidentally drop it & let it loose in the house! But even Kenton was feeling a little squeemish about holding the snake for too long. :)

It looks like the snake is looking at the camera. :)

Eek! I think he was blowing on the snake, not kissing it...I hope. :\

Checking it out with his magnifying glass.

our small group

On Tuesday, June 2nd, we hosted our Bible Study group at our house for BBQ burgers. We've continued meeting through the last year when we welcomed 3 new babies into the group. And for the past year, we've been hanging out a little more than studying the Bible. But it has been so great to continue meeting, despite how difficult it can be to have an uninterrupted conversation. We have a great time being social & the kids love playing together.

Happy Emma.

Silly shot of Finn.

Macey, Ethan & Finn had fun eating at their own table.

Can't leave out Cedar.
He had a great stretch of awake time while we ate outside on a blanket.

Tummy time!
The weather was so strange. It was cloudy, muggy & warm. The forecast was for thunderstorms, so we were patiently waiting to see if we'd get the promised storm... Shortly after everyone headed home, we got the thunder, lightning & down pour that we were all waiting for. :) So cool - I love thunder storms. Finn enjoyed it too, thankfully.

Getting stronger every day.

Finn really loves playing with the little babies. Addi is almost one already! Hard to believe.

Nicole with Addi in her cool sunglasses.
I realize that I mostly am posting photos of the kids...there are adults that meet with us each week too. I guess I'm just drawn to the cute kid photos. :P

Cedar's profile.

Such a sweet little face. I love him so much!

He's getting so big, so fast. I know that this sleepy, newborn phase is nearly done & he will soon start becoming more interactive bit by bit. I've loved all of the cuddles that he's given me this past month & am looking forward to the new stages as they come. But I will miss the sleepy, cuddly stage...

one month

Couldn't resist adding Cedar to the pile of boys. :)

Napping in Mama's bed.

Close up.

Eyes!

We made it to the one month mark - so crazy how fast time flies. I feel like Cedar looks a lot like baby Finn when he's sleeping, but he has his own look to him - especially when his eyes are open. We've really been enjoying our family of 4 & are so glad we had another baby. :) It's great having 2 kids. Finn is really interested in keeping Cedar happy & likes to tell me when I need to help him (he usually says "You need Cedar's help!"). :) I only have one more month of maternity leave & I am going to do my best to enjoy every moment of it. We've been doing great on Daddy-Work-Days & have even coordinated naps! I'm so spoiled. ;)

cousins

Over Memorial Day weekend, Kenton's cousin Sabrina drove up from Sacramento with her family for a visit. This was our first time meeting her daughter, MacKenzie! I borrowed most of these photos from Outi - thanks Outi! :)

A serious shot, but so cute!

Sabrina with her husband, Tor.

Nursing our babies. :)
It was great to visit with Sabrina! We have a lot in common right now, with our new little ones. Plus, it was great to see what Cedar might be like in just a couple of months. It's amazing how quickly infants change from month to month. MacKenzie is only 3 months old now!

There's a happy photo!

4 weeks

Friday, May 29th marked 4 weeks since Cedar joined our family. He is such a blessing to us - we all just adore him! He still sleeps so much but we're getting more & more awake time. He's starting to coo a bit & really looks at us when he's awake. If he's upset, Finn gets a little panicked & likes to try & soothe him. Cedar often quiets down for a bit when Finn comes near & has even taken the pacifier from Finn, which makes him feel so proud to be helping! :)

On our first day home without Kenton, Cedar was crying while Finn was eating lunch & I was trying to get my lunch together. Finn came running in & yelled "I WANT JUICE!" I told him, "Don't yell at me" & his response was "CEDAR'S SCARING ME!" (still yelling) :P Cedar really doesn't cry that often but it was funny to see Finn getting a little stressed about the noise.

Here are some photos of our 4 week old Cedar. He's so precious!

I spend a lot of my days in this position, nursing my baby.

In the middle of eating - awake & happy.

All done, satisfied & passed out in my hand.
It's hard work eating so much & so often! :)
